EM1 needs to be activated before use (activation requires an equal amount of unsulfured blackstrap molasses which is included in your Activation Kit; activation process requires about 7 days of room-temperature activation/anaerobic fermentation while the EM Effective Microorganisms digest the molassess & transform it into beneficial enzymes & bioactive plant nutrients. When your batch changes colour from molasses-brown to dark orange, it’s done activating. A batch of Activated EM (AEM) keeps for about 30-45 days.

Activated EM should be diluted before applying to plants/soil/etc. (from 1 part EM to 10 parts water up to 1 part EM to 30 parts water (1:10 to 1:30 ratio of AEM to water) depending on application. Makes excellent foilar-feed, spray bottle’s helpful. Make sure to use dechlorinated water (if using chlorinated tap water, let water sit uncovered for 24h until bubbles form/dissipate) (EM microorganisms don’t like chlorine…). Many people apply EM around 1x per week, more if plants are undergoing stress. (our APC500 probiotic-cleaning product is also helpful for organic pest/pathogen control)
