We prioritize this specific type of molasses because it’s pure, free from additives or fillers, & boasts a high sugar content (Brix level of 78 or higher). This rich sugar source is precisely what EM•1® needs to thrive and multiply during the activation process.

Molasses also speeds up the composting process by providing a food source for composting microbes, and enhances the nutrient content of compost.

When activating a batch of EM1, an equal amount of EM1 + molassess is used (see attached Activation Charts for ratios & amounts) .

What is the difference between sulfured and unsulfured molasses❓

👉 The key difference between sulfured and unsulfured molasses lies in the sugarcane processing.

• Sulfured molasses is made from immature sugarcane that has been treated with sulfur dioxide during processing. This sulfur dioxide acts as a preservative and clarifies the juice. The sulfur dioxide also prevents growth of beneficial effective microorganisms.
• Unsulfured molasses, on the other hand, is made from mature sugarcane that doesn’t require sulfur treatment. As a result, unsulfured molasses is considered purer and more natural, often preferred for its richer flavor and higher nutrient content. EM1’s preferred food / activation source.
• Many also prefer unsulfured molasses because they want to avoid feeding themselves ofr their plants sulfites.
